Latin American/Caribbean Scholars
To qualify as a Latin American/Caribbean Scholar, students must:
- Be a citizen of a Latin American or Caribbean nation.
- Receive the LAC classification at the time of admission.
- Receive an eligible scholarship at the time of admission.
- Be registered full-time each term, including the summer semester (i.e. 12 credits
for undergraduate students, 9 hours for graduate students).
- Maintain a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) as a graduate student; maintain a 2.0 GPA as an undergraduate student (first term prior to July 14, 2025) and 3.0 for new undergraduates enrolling on or after July 14, 2025.
The requirements for this residency exception are monitored each term.
ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ will only continue to qualify if the above criteria are met. If these requirements are not met, the student’s residency will revert back to the original out-of-state status.
Please be advised that if you lose eligibility, there is no option to appeal to receive the LAC classification for the current or future term.
