Home-based early childhood intervention; child-parent Interactions; school readiness 


Dr. Tracy Payne is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Child and serves as the State Director of the ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters Training and Technical Assistance Center at the University of South ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ. The ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ HIPPY T&TAC is responsible for the administration of all HIPPY sites across ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ who collectively serve more than 2,000 families each year. Dr. Payne is a published author, has taught pre-service teachers in teacher education programs at several institutions of higher ÐßÐßÊÓÆµing, conducted districtwide professional development for in-service teachers, served as the Program Director and Family Cafe Coordinator of a nationally recognized K-12 STEM program for almost a decade and currently focuses on the operations and research related to HIPPY in ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ.

Tracy earned her Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning from the Peabody College of Education at Vanderbilt University (2011) with ExPERT training in Education Research focused on Early Childhood Interventions. She is a fellow of the Institute of Education Sciences' Experimental Education Research Training program, is a Head Start Scholar, and currently serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Early Intervention.
